ABOUT ME

about julia tutor image

My name is Julia, and I am a mathematics department head, IB Physics teacher (certified), IB Mathematics teacher (certified), and former AP Physics and AP Calculus teacher.

I have worked and taught in public schools, private schools and independent schools, both in Canada and in the United States.

My life is dedicated to education and learning, and I find no greater purpose in life, than to gain knowledge. I was once very moved by the following expression, and it is the way I live my life: “Dream, Achieve, Inspire” (unknown). So, I am always busy working on a project. Here is a list of my credentials/projects to date:

1. OCT Certified in Intermediate/Senior Physics and Mathematics
2. Certified IB Physics and IB Mathematics Teacher (no grade moderation from the IB since beginning)
3. Honours Physics Degree (Astrophysics Specialization) from McMaster University
4. Bachelor of Education Degree from OISE (University of Toronto)
5. John J. Del Grande Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics
6. Presenter at OAME Conference (Ontario Association of Mathematics Educators)
7. Founder of Meant4Teachers.ca (since 2013, but currently under reconstruction as main .com renewal lost and website is being rebuilt from scratch)
8. Creator of “Physics in the Flesh” YouTube Channel (free physics and math videos which shows step-by-step solutions on how problems are solved)
9. Author of “Alice and Bob” children’s book (available at Toronto Public Libraries)
10. Author of “A World, Masked” children’s book

In my spare time, I enjoy learning and studying about functional medicine, and how to get to the root cause of disease by understanding how various parts of the body work together, and do partake in some MarioKart from time to time.

I’m one of those “old” gamers, who played a lot of video games as a child, but never evolved to play many of the newer games. Here are some of the games I used to play (nostalgia, here I come!):

• Wipeout 2097
• Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3
• Wolfenstein 3-D

Anyways, that’s enough about me. If you’d like to hear what others have had to say about me, please visit the “Testimonials” page. See you there!
